In Northern Colorado, protecting the most vulnerable members of our community requires more than just awareness; it demands a dedicated, collaborative safety net. Realities For Children is at the forefront of Child Abuse Prevention in Larimer County, working tirelessly to ensure that children who have faced abuse, neglect, or are at-risk receive the support they deserve. Our mission is built on the belief that by uniting local businesses, human services, and the community, we can create a future where no child is forgotten.

A Foundation of Collaborative Service

The history of Realities For Children is rooted in frontline experience. Our founder, a former child protection case manager for Larimer County, recognized that many children were slipping through the cracks of the traditional system. This led to the creation of a unique resource designed to unite various youth organizations in collaborative service rather than competition.

As a leading Nonprofit in Fort Collins, we have redefined fiscal efficiency. By privately underwriting all administrative costs through our Business Members, we ensure that 100% of all donations go directly to the programs and emergency grants that support local children. This transparent funding model allows our partner agencies to focus on their core mission: direct care and prevention.

The Three Legs of Healing and Prevention

Effective Child Abuse Prevention in Larimer County involves a comprehensive healing philosophy. Realities For Children identifies three essential “legs” of service that form a continuum of care:

  • Emergency Response: We identify and meet immediate, unmet, and emergency needs so that children in crisis are immediately supported.
  • Healing Support: Once emergency needs are met, we provide effective support services to begin the long-term recovery process.
  • Empowerment: We equip children with resources and tools as they grow, empowering them to break the cycle of abuse for generations to come.

Integrity in Every Action

Our work is guided by core values of Integrity, Servant Leadership, Collaboration, Excellence, and Respect. Through the committed work of Realities For Children, we have created an opportunity for every member of the community—from business leaders to individual donors—to make a tangible difference in a child’s life.

By providing Child Abuse Emergency Services and ongoing support, we are building a resource that empowers the entire child protection community. Together, we are not just reacting to trauma; we are proactively building a stronger, safer community for all children in Northern Colorado.
