At Treehouse Learning, we believe that providing Quality Play-Based Preschool in Boulder County means nurturing the whole child, where social skills and emotional intelligence are recognized as essential for success in life and the foundation for all academic learning. Since 1997, our high-quality early childhood program has been committed to providing a comprehensive, holistic education.
Our preschool curriculum intentionally supports this development using research-backed methods:
- Integrated Support: Treehouse Learning incorporates play-based learning experiences, the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence’s Social-Emotional Curriculum, movement and body-based mindfulness, and Brain Gym.
- Professional Expertise: We also benefit from embedded occupational therapist and mental health support, as well as a wide variety of tools and resources to intentionally support the foundational learning-readiness skills that each child will need.
Fostering Emotional Literacy and Self-Regulation
A key element of emotional intelligence is the ability to understand and manage one’s feelings. Our experienced educators guide children through these complex skills:
- Emotional Literacy: Children learn to notice and name their feelings through body-based self-awareness of their physical and emotional state, helping them develop empathy and emotional literacy.
- Self-Regulation Stations: Classrooms have “cozy corners” and “regulation stations” for children to self-regulate and explore a variety of mindfulness, self-soothing tools, and calming techniques.
- Growth Mindset: Through this work, children develop a positive self-concept rooted in grounded self-confidence (often referred to as a “Yes Brain”), believing themselves to be competent and capable people who can learn new skills and do hard things.
Community and Collaboration Through Play
Play-based learning is the perfect vehicle for practicing social skills for successful relationships. Our children learn to be part of a classroom and school community by practicing learning to share and taking turns, embodying community expectations of kindness, respect, and helpfulness, and learning to care for the environment and world around us. Interpersonal relationship skills are taught from infancy, starting with sign language for “please” and “thank you”.
In addition to our strong preschool offerings, we also feature a comprehensive kindergarten program which includes hands-on learning, academic instruction, and chef-prepared meals. You can find out more about the scope of our programs, including our high-quality Daycare in Boulder County services, on our program page.
