At Treehouse Learning, we recognize that nature designed children to learn through play. As a premier provider of Play-Based Childcare in Boulder County, we offer a child-directed, joyful experience where learning organically emerges from intentionally prepared environments. Since 1997, our family-run program has served the Louisville and Lafayette communities by focusing on the integrated development of the whole child—mind, body, and spirit.
The Philosophy of Purposeful Play
Our version of play-based education is far from unstructured; it is a sophisticated synthesis of educational traditions intended to be an “aid to life”. We believe that play is the primary mechanism through which children build leadership skills, social-emotional awareness, and critical thinking.
- Montessori Influence: We respect each child’s individual learning style, providing opportunities for self-directed, purposeful activities during sensitive periods of development.
- Reggio Emilia Inspiration: We view the environment as the “third teacher,” where children use “a hundred languages” to express their emergent discoveries through creative exploration.
- Vygotsky’s Scaffolding: Our experienced educators facilitate learning by helping children achieve higher levels of competency through social interaction and guided discovery.
Prepared Environments for Active Discovery
The physical space at Treehouse Learning was designed specifically with children in mind. Our classrooms radiate from a sun-filled center common room and are equipped with high-quality natural materials and open-ended manipulatives. Notably, our facility is screen-free, intentionally excluding TVs and electronic devices to ensure human-to-human interactions remain the catalyst for healthy maturation. Outside, our 1.25-acre campus features large natural grass playgrounds where nature-based exploration and environmental literacy begin as early as infancy.
Integrating Academics and Social-Emotional Learning
We provide Early Education in Boulder County that balances rigorous academics with emotional intelligence. By incorporating the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence’s RULER curriculum, we help children notice and name their feelings while building a “Yes Brain” rooted in resilience.
Academic preparation is naturally embedded into the daily routine of our Daycare in Boulder County. From “Tools of the Mind” literacy activities to STEM-based inquiry, children engage in hands-on experiences that foster a lifelong love of learning. Whether practicing sign language in the infant room or participating in chef-prepared mealtimes that model grace and courtesy, every moment at Treehouse Learning is a “teachable moment”.
A Legacy of Trust
With 28 years of experience, the staff at Treehouse Learning remains dedicated to early childhood education as a professional career. We partner with families to build a foundation of personal confidence and academic readiness, ensuring that when children leave for kindergarten, they are independent, responsible, and trust in their own abilities.
