While the play-based philosophy is foundational, Treehouse Learning’s commitment to Early Education Boulder County ensures a strong, balanced approach to academic preparation for a lifetime of learning success. We partner with families to help inspire and cultivate a life-long love of learning through the deeper foundational learning skills that lead to successful academic outcomes.
We serve infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergartners , and our goal is simple: when our children leave for kindergarten or first grade, they are distinguished by strong academic and social skills, love of learning, curiosity, and personal confidence.
Building Literacy from Infancy
At Treehouse Learning, literacy and language development are crucial and begin in infancy. We recognize that language acquisition and self-expression are valued for all children.
- Science of Reading: Our approach to early literacy incorporates the Science of Reading, which is essential for decoding skills (connecting letters to sounds) as well as the language development necessary to make meaning of written materials.
- Embedded Learning: Literacy is naturally embedded throughout the day through direct instruction, songs, stories, and dramatic play.
- Tools of the Mind: For older students, we use the Vygotsky-based “Tools of the Mind” curriculum, which emphasizes literacy development through the lens of dramatic play. Children spend time with purposeful writing, role-playing, mathematical reasoning, invention, and discovery.
Comprehensive Academic and Cognitive Growth
We offer comprehensive academic preparation across core subjects via interactive and experiential activities in a prepared learning environment. This approach supports child-led inquiry and is guided by skilled educators to facilitate deeper understanding.
- Core Subjects: Literacy, writing, reading skills, math, science, and STEM are all offered through hands-on learning.
- Social-Emotional Integration: Crucially, the “Tools of the Mind” curriculum naturally introduces and develops self-regulation skills. We know that these social skills and emotional intelligence are the foundation for all academic learning.
- Kindergarten Program: Our kindergarten program includes academic instruction, small class sizes that support individualized learning, before and after care, and chef-prepared meals and snacks.
As a participating provider in the Universal Preschool (UPK) program, we offer 15 hours a week of free, high-quality preschool to eligible children enrolled full-time in their year before Kindergarten.
A Nurturing and Intentional Space
Our facility is a private, locally owned Early Childhood Education program located in the Indian Peaks neighborhood of Lafayette at 95th and Baseline. The building was specifically designed for children, featuring generous large natural grass playgrounds.
We also utilize the observation-based High Scope Curriculum child assessments, specifically for its alignment with the Montessori and Reggio Emilia traditions and play-based approach, ensuring a formative assessment of a child’s entire academic, social, and physical development. This dedication to comprehensive assessment and high standards is part of why we have earned a reputation for the highest quality child care and Daycare in Boulder County.
